  • Day 1

    April 21, 2025 in Canada ⋅ 🌙 9 °C

Flying into Seattle was a very smooth and quick flight. It took us an hour to buy some chocolate, get our luggage, and rent a car. Then we were off to Pikes Market. I ate some fish and chips from Joe's. So good. We browsed a few shops and ate a pierosi which is like a roll stuffed with delicious ground beef and cheese filling. I am going to learn to make them. The dough was very thin. So yummy. Angela has some good pictures I will add later. The Space Needle was fun and I'm glad I went but the Eiffel Tower is so much bigger. I am driving a brand new Nissan Sentra. Our drive to Vancouver Island took us another 2 1/2 hours. Tried to see some tulip fields. You have to pay to go in but we could still see the a little as we drove by. We just missed the tulip festival. The border was no big deal. We gave our passports and they asked a couple questions and then sent us on to Canada. The ferry ride was fun. The Wyndham was only 30 minutes from the ferry and we saw the parliament lit up so pretty as well as the harbor. I can't wait for morning. Good night.Read more

  • Day 2 Victoria

    April 22, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

I woke up early and enjoyed the view from our room. Found a little coffee shop a short walk away. Delicious coffee and a stuffed meat pastry for breakfast. Angela needed some tennis shoes and did a little shoe shopping. I know. I work in a shoe store and I shop for shoes on vacation. We didn't put enough money on our parking card and when I went out to put more on it we had a ticket on our window! We were so annoyed! I emailed a request to reevaluate the ticket. Who knows what they will decide. We had lunch at a cute sandwich shop and headed for a hike to Sitting Lady Falls. The countryside reminds me of Oregon. It's very pretty. On our way back we drove by the Hatley Castle. It wasn't open for tours until May, but it was neat to see anyway. 2 of the Xmen movies were made there. For dinner, we ate at an Italian restaurant that had amazing carbanera and delicious Tuscany Chianti wine. We found China town but didn't really get to explore as it was getting late. It was a very enjoyable day.Read more

  • Day 3 High Tea

    April 23, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

Angela and I had our morning coffee at the same coffee shop. Then it was time to get ready for High Tea at the Pendray. It was very delicious. I had a Mango black tea and Angela had Spicy Mandarin tea. They were very good. They finger foods were delicious and filling. We walked back to our rooms and changed and headed to Craigdarroch Castle and toured it. It was actually a private residence built by a poor Scottsman and his wife turned millionaires after finding and mining coal here on Vancouver Island. We checked out the parliament building and then had a delicious dinner at Cafe Mexico. They make a good guacamole. We are headed to the hot tub to relax. Tomorrow is Bucharts Gardens.Read more

  • DAY 4 BUCHARTS GARDEN

    April 24, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

So today was the day to see the gardens. They didn't disappoint. We spent about 2 hrs there and saw everything. I really enjoyed the beauty of the gardens. We tried to hike to the Niagara Falls of Canada, but the trail was closed due to flooding. We traveled back to our room and had dinner on Fishermans Wharf. Back to the room to pack and tomorrow home.Read more
