Boston Castle Island

Finally, I took the bus to Castle Island. A small bay that can be walked around completely, with an old fort from the time of the War of Independence, which was last used in World War II as a safe haven for the Navy. As a special feature, the airport of Boston is to be mentioned here, because the approach lane runs directly over the harbor and you can thus watch and listen to the big planes landing the whole day in 90 second intervals. Impressive, but also annoyingly loud.

Zum Abschluss bin ich dann noch mit dem Bus zum Castle Island gefahren. Eine kleine Bucht, die komplett umwandert werden kann, mit einem alten Fort aus der Zeit des Unabhängigkeitskrieges, das zuletzt im zweiten Weltkrieg als sicherer Hafen für die Marine genutzt wurde. Als Besonderheit ist hier noch der Flughafen von Boston zu erwähnen, da die Einflugschneise direkt über den Hafen verläuft und man somit den ganzen Tag im 90 Sekunden Takt, den großen Flugzeugen beim Landen zusehen, und zuhören kann.
