Rumi’s Final Resting Place

On the way to our homestay accommodations, we stopped at the tomb of Rumi, the poet. The complex was originally a school of philosophy. Small rooms, with only a bed, a copy of the Koran and a candle surrounded the main teaching building. In these rooms students would “suffer” to show their commitment to the teachings of Islam and to secure admittance to the school.
