• FIRST RIVER CAMP

    July 11 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Travelled on from Wandoan yesterday and landed here at Don River Free Camp. We absolutely lucked out and got one of the very few riverside camp sites and have decided to stay here for three nights. Our first one of the trip.

We purchased fuel in Wandoan but the grocery store didn't have what we wanted so we moved on to Taroom where we picked up a few extra supplies with the plan to be staying next for a few days at the Apex Park on the Dawson River outside of Moura.

We drove there - and it was very busy - really nowhere to set up - and we both decided we would find some place else.

Only one other person here on another part of the river - the van in front hesitated at the dirt turn in and kept going - and we scored - we checked there was no rain expected because it is black soil and the warning is not to stay in the rain. No rain warnings. so we will stay the three nights now.

I popped a little video on here of the Leichardt Highway - QLD roads are an absolute joke - but hey - what are we complaining about - we have the Olypic Games to think about. Bumped into a man from NSW heading into Chinchilla and he was astounded at the roads - we said "Welcome To QLD Mate"
