We started our day at the Cristo Rei Monument. We went up in the lift and were amazed at the spectacular view over Lisbon. The monument itself was enormous. We then walked around the grounds at the base and went and had a nice lunch at the cafe on site, and finished with a Portuguese tart. On our way to our accommodation we stumbled across an old castle on a hill. We found our way there and got out to explore. From there we headed to a town called Évora. We were looking forward to seeing the Chapel of Bones, but it’s currently under renovation so we couldn’t go in. We had to settle for gelato. 🍧 After walking around the main square, we continued on to our accommodation in Monsaraz. A tiny village in the countryside. It was more perfect than I imagined. It was like stepping back in time. We walked down an alleyway to a little restaurant with a stunning view and had dinner. We got back to our accommodation just in time to sit on our terrace and watch the sunset. Tomorrow we drive down to the Algarve, to the hustle and bustle of the touristy beachside towns.Baca lagi
