Glencoe Scotland

No visit to this country is complete without driving through the beautiful Glencoe Valley which offers some of the best views and mountains in Scotland. We spent a few days here walking through town and doing a day hike up the Glencoe Pap.

The hike was quite difficult. Most of the hike was covered in loose rocks, but we got some great pictures of the valley, Glencoe, and Loch Leven below.

Glencoe also has some troubled history. In 1692, Glencoe was the site of the Clan MacDonald Massacre by order of the English King. The worst part was that the massacre was a misunderstanding. The leader of the clan was doing as requested and swearing loyalty to the English King, but the local official who was supposed to accept the pledge was away. So the pledge was not made until after the deadline given, leading to the massacre.Read more
