Beer, beer, and bier!

Munich is the capital of Bavaria. Famous for its beer culture, but alas, we were here in May/June rather than Sept/Oct. In fact, one of our favorite European beers finds its home here, Paulaner.

Beyond that, Munich is also infamous for being where Hitler rose to power. This Austrian expat made a name for himself in the Great War then rose through the political system here. On a tour of Third Reich sites around Munich, we saw places where Hitler erected monuments and staged army demonstrations. We even saw a tower Hitler painted when he was a fledgling painter trying to get into art school. Oh, if only they accepted him.Read more
