Lanzarote - Fire Mountain

Took an coach from the ship to the Parque Nacional Timanfaya or Fire Mountain. The site of multiple volcanic eruptions the landscape and views were spectacular. At the top we visited a architecturally clever visitor centre which seemed to hunker down into the volcanic rock. Treated to some visual and sensory displays of how high the ground temperature is just below the surface. Stones from just a few inches down
were almost too hot to hold and pouring cold water into a fissure just a few meters deep resulted in a violent plume of steam. Would definitely go back to Lanzarote.Læs mere
