Katakolo and farewell to Nick and Lou

Long day 9 hours from Pylos however the did news was we had wind to sail and averaged 7.5 knots although it was getting a bit spicy when we got to Katakolo at 25 knots and heavy swell. Add a bit of bad luck as a huge cruise ship came out of the harbour as we needed to turn into the wind where they were!! Anyway we safely found our spot for the night and after a walk and pre drinks ashore had dinner with Nick and Lou as they were heading off back to Preveza the next day.
We had a walk around the small village/town where most of the shops were closed and apparently they only open if a cruise ship comes in. Certainly the prices in the ones that were open reflect cruise prices.

The harbour is pretty and still has working fishing boats. We were watching one in the morning and he didn't seem to bring in much so not sure how they make a living.Leggi altro
