• Corfu Town

    Corfu town is a new location and we enjoyed the beautiful old town. We also checked in at the port police after our agent suggested we should get a few stamps this year. The reviews suggested this was going to be an ordeal, and in fact, they couldn't have been nicer.
    We toured the sights of the town, and Gary found a chandler's, of course!
    There were a lot of barriers being put in place, and the Greek policeman told us it was Reunification Day parade. It was when Britain handed the Ionian islands back to Greece, I am not sure how that's how the Greek history views it though.
    We found a place to sit and watch a parade which reminded us on Shakespeare's birthday at home. There were the childrens brigades of brownies and scouts equivalent, representatives in national costumes from the different regions of the island, followed by the military and the emergency services.
    By this time the wind had got up and we got soaked in the swell geting back to the boat, but in time to sit on the front watching the Greek Air Force air display.
