Atlanta - Part 2

We started our last full day in Atlanta at the long standing Breakfast at Barney’s for their world famous pancakes then headed over to the historic Oakland Cemetery, the resting place to many pivotal and celebrated figures including Atlanta’s first black Mayor and the author of Gone with the Wind. We then took in many of the sites dedicated to the life and work of Martin Luther King Jnr (MLK) including the museum, the house where he was born and raised, the Ebenezer Baptist Church where he was a co-pastor, his tombstone and the eternal flame in his memory. All very moving. After that we went out to Decatur. While only 15 minutes from Atlanta, it feels like a country town with magnificent period style homes. We then headed back into the city to the Centennial Olympic Park, the home of the 1996 Summer Olympics.Weiterlesen
