Spot QE 2nd on one of the painted doors (spitting image like portrait)

We were expecting it to be cold at top of the hill-it was boiling!

Lots of stories about flights in/out of Madeira being cancelled due to strong winds. All v strange as weather is fab with a gentle breeze.
Went into the old town today by local bus. Visited a street with unusual painted doors (as per pics.) Took the cable to Monte Palace Gardens which were amazing/steep (not ideal for Anne). We did not take the basket tabogan down the hill-looked dangerous+loooong queues.Read more
