Charters Towers

We are on the road again 🚙

First stop is Charters Towers - an old Gold Mining Town with a rich heritage. We got there just after lunch and being a Saturday, everything was either shut or shutting down. So, we did our own walking tour of the town, and it has some beautiful old buildings.

Unbeknownst to us Charters Towers is also home to WWII bunkers as it housed US & Aus troops that flew in the battle of the Coral Sea against the Japanese.Read more
