Flew out bright and early this morning and made it to Hobart 30 minutes early. After picking up our ride for the holiday, we made our way to Richmond to grab a coffee and browse the cute little shops there. We made it back to Hobart in the afternoon to check into our accomodation and then had our first dinner at Don Camillo!Read more

Today we decided on a trip out to Mount Field National Park. Since we had all been to Russell Falls previously we drove up to Lake Dobson and decided to tackle Seager's Lookout which was a 2 hour return trip hike. The hike wasn't particularly strenuous with some stunning views at the top. On our return to the information center we walked out to Russell Falls just because we could and took in the view there. On the way back home we thought we would try a new restaurant, namely Bar Wa Izakaya. The menu is designed to be shared and has a little bit of fusion mixed in. We opted for the Tuna tasting plate, noodle salad, scallop and butter udon and okonomyaki. All were absolutely delicious and would highly recommend this place again.Read more

Today was a bit of rest day after hiking up at Hartz Mountain National Park. We ended up walking into the city so that Kirk could buy new hiking boots. For dinner though we went to Aloft and their degustation menu was amazing. Everything was superb and well cooked and of course delicious.Read more

Saturday was Salamanca Markets. We wanted to get there by 8 am to beat the crowds but before long it was crowded - there was a massive cruise ship which had docked. We had the famous Smith's Scallop Pies which were delicious. We also met an old friend - Andrea who was one of the wait staff at Don Camillo's and was no helping his Girlfriend run her Paella stall at the markets. Definitely worth a try.Read more

Our last full day in Tassie. We decided to start it off with another breakfast at Bear with Me which did not fail to disappoint. I had the hotcakes with lemon curd, chocolate mousse and passionfruit icecream which was amazing. Kirk had the korean fried chicken burger and my sister had the breakfast salad bowl. We then decided to head up to Kunanyi for some hikes after a bit of a rest. We did Sphinx lookout and also went part of the way along the Organ Pipes Track (enough to get some views). We also headed up to the top where it was very mild and pleasant. Lots ofpeople as you would expect on a Sunday but a very lovely end to our holiday. We had planned to finish up with dinner at Don Camillo but it was closed :(Read more
