    Paris first impressions

    August 11, 2019 in France ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

    Hi everybody.
So I was never too interested in Paris (don't really know why 🤔), but my boyfriend and I decided to visit it anyway just because it's a major city in Europe and we want to see everything in the world.
Plus I really love the Disney Parks 🥰

Now we just arrived at the Charles-de-Gaulle airport just to be kinda disappointed.
The image of France always had something fancy and pretty to it, and the airport is the exact opposite. To be honest it has raw walls, smells bad and the staff doesn't look like it wants to be there.
We are taking the RER train into the city now and the train looks like straight from the ghetto 😅 aaand smells like it too 😩. The view so far hasn't been a delight either....

BUT I guess that's just regular city life. I just wished for more style.

Well let's still hope it will get better downtown !

    Paris going up and down

    August 11, 2019 in France ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

The first day is almost over and I have to say it's not that bad. Although I think this city is a mix of beauty and ugly, of pretty and pretty dirty 😅

So to get the "bad" things out of the way:
The toilet situation is the worst. I rather have a nice hole in the ground than a toilet without a seat, looking like it has never been cleaned and smelling like it too. One pizzeria toilet even had the door missing. I kid you not!!!

Also the waiters and service personal, for example at the stations, is mainly really cold and ignorant. Not everybody of course but the majority (at least today.. we still have 4 more days to find out we were wrong 🤞🏼)

The streets are not really clean although I think it's okay due to the fact that this city is old and has an antique flair, so the trash and dirt kinda fits.

On the other hand Paris really has charme! The Saine, the bridges everywhere, the little cafe's, the street musicians and all those old french style buildings just give you a feeling of happiness and tranquility ☺️

All in all the city made some really heavy impressions and I'm really excited for Wednesday and Thursday, because the next to days we'll spend at Disneyland 😍

FYI: I heard the tip in restaurants is already included. But I will find out for sure asap!

    Disneyland Paris. "D" for disappointing

    August 13, 2019 in France ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

I was looking forward to Disneyland for month and month. The whole trip evolved around it. I hyped it my boyfriend, that it will be the best experience he ever had. I spend a busload on money on this trip.
And all that just to be disappointed!
First of you need to understand that I worked for Disneyworld in Orlando (and I have been to the one in Japan). So I know what I'm talking about. I know what big boss Mickey expects from the park and their employees (called cast member, sometimes crew member if it fits the theme like pirates of the Caribbean), aaand I also know what big Mickey offers in return. But Disneyland Paris just can't live up to it.

Don't get me wrong, when you enter the parks it is an amazing feeling. The details and the smells. The rides are super fun and the shows and parades are great. Of course you will have a great time. Disney is still Disney, but the most important part is missing!!

Let me explain a little. A Disney park is not just buildings and attractions, not just a nice theme with a fine ride or show.
    IT IS MAGIC!
IT IS AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE (well they kinda made that work for me in a bad way😅)

To become a cast member you have to learn about the four keys

SAFETY: I guess that was fine here.

COURTESY: not a good trait in French (maybe just Parisian people) the cast member bumped into you without saying sorry. They cut your way. They ignored you at the cash registers if they were busy taking and they just rushed but you even if they say you were lost.

SHOW: and I don't mean a parade or anything. I mean show made by the cast. When you go into phantom manor I want a spooky cast member. When a child is crying I need the cast to try to make it happy. When I enter crush coaster i want to be called dude and be asked to get on board and be ready for the cruise or whatever!
    Nothing!
Those people just wave you through cramp you in and keep talking to each other. They keep repeating the same sentence without any sign of fun. ***

EFFICIENCY: I rather wait 10 minutes longer and have a nice experience than being pushed into a room with waaaaay too many people and then rudly (and without acting like the theme of the ride) being asked to get out again and ruining the whole atmosphere and show. Also many times we saw a lot of open seats even in the rides that offer single riders!!! Unacceptable!

When it comes to food you're up for another disappointment. There is not enough variety, like main street usa should have funnel cake and floats, there is also not enough people working the lines so a waiting time of an hour can be super normal, the people behind the registers work really not efficient and last but not least the food is at best mediocre!

In the end I can say I had fun but just because I told myself to not let my money go to waste completely. Also Disney park is waaaaay better than Disney Sudio Park.
I'm really upset because Disney stands for perfection and for being different and better, more and magical.. it defines the word theme in Theme Park.. it's just unforgettable! But this park doesn't do it. It's just like every other amusement park.

***if you're interested here are some stories of my magic!
This one day it was reading so Snow White didn't come out for pictures and this little girl was crying like 10 minutes straight and her parents were helpless. So I found out where Snow White will be (I knew they had a backup plan.. it's Disney!) I went back to this girl quietly asked the mother for her name and then went to her and said: "are you Laura? Snow White just called me. She's waiting for you at (the backup place)." This girl stopped crying at once and couldn't believe what she just heard! The day was saved and I heard her walking away saying how snow white knows her and how happy she is. That is magic and the family lived happily ever after!

And I have a dozen more stories!
