Thursday we had beautiful views of the Columbia River, Mt Hood, Mt Jefferson and the Three Sisters on our way to Lake Simtustus RV Park for their annual Oktoberfest. Our camping buddies Chad & Leslie, Dean & Lesa and Jim & Kathy were there as well. Carl and Val joined in on the festivities Saturday and Sunday.
We spent the rest of our time enjoying each other's company, fishing from Jim and Kathy's boat, sharing meals and cocktails. Carl and Debbie, the owners of the park, were nice enough to treat a group of us to dinner at the Desert Inn where we had a delicious meal, played some pool and shuffleboard.

    Good times+good friends+good food=One fantastic week!

We went to REV in Coburg for annual preventative maintenance on the motorhome. While at "Camp Monaco" we met Tim and Janet from Grants Pass, we meet the nicest people living the RV life. We gave Kuma a bath and a trim at Suds 'Em Yourself, a wonderful grooming salon in Eugene that we stop at whenever we're in the area. http://www.sudsemyourself.com/
A great place for breakfast in Eugene is Buddy's Diner. We always dine there at least once when having our motorhome serviced. Marcus Mariota apparently likes it too as we just missed him! Our waitress showed us a selfie of her with him. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g…

Coach service completed early in Coburg so we headed to the Port of Newport RV Park on Saturday. Sunny upon our departure from Coburg, foggy arrival in Newport. Sunday the fog lingered as we strolled around the bayfront admiring the murals, checking out the galleries and watching the sea lions.
Monday dawned clear and sunny for cruising around Nye Beach, pizza and a sandwich at Panini Bakery then back to the RV park for a walk then a tour of the Hatfield Marine Science Center Visitors Center. http://hmsc.oregonstate.edu/visitor-center
Beautiful weather on Tuesday for another trip to Panini Bakery, the best pizza and bread on the Oregon coast, then a walk around Nye Beach. Back to the historic bayfront for a long walk followed by an early dinner at Rogue Nation Brewery.

A delicious Thanksgiving meal was prepared and served by my sister Marcia and me with additional side dishes contributed by our guests. As usual Auntie Aki and Uncle Kay provided the venue. Our family friend, Yoko, recited a heartfelt speech she gave at church about our late grandmother, Chiyo Endo, and what our family has meant to her... not a dry eye in the house❤️. We had a wonderful time dining and visiting with family.
Friday we celebrated my father in law, Larry's, 81st birthday and Sharon and Larry's 63rd anniversary!

We began our journey south on Saturday passing many Oregon Duck fans and only one Beaver fan (Civil War Game in Eugene) on our way to 7 Feathers RV Park in Canyonville. It stormed all day Sunday during our drive over the Siskiyous and down I 5 to Corning. We made our annual pilgrimage to the Olive Pit when the rain finally let up. Our drive to Harris Ranch Inn in Coalinga was beautiful. We shared a delicious half pound burger and bought some rib eye steaks to grill later. We'd hoped to detour to San Simeon to view the bull elephant seals fighting but they hadn't arrived yet so we cruised down to Catalina RV Resort in Desert Hot Springs. It's our fourth year to to winter there and our neighbors from Gresham, Chad and Leslie, were there to greet us with dinner and wine. 74° upon our arrival 🌴😎Read more

After over three weeks of fun in the sun we returned to Oregon for the holidays. Thursday we buttoned up the motorhome jumped in the car and headed north. Our drive was long, sunny and cold with stops in Bakersfield for oranges and Santa Nella for Anderson's split pea soup. We spent the night in Redding, our first stay in a motel in over 7 years... how we miss traveling by motorhome!
Friday we arrived at Auntie Aki and Uncle Kay's in Milwaukie, Oregon. They generously opened up their home to us for next 10 nights.

Randy spent Saturday smoking four racks of baby back ribs while Auntie Aki and I prepped for Sunday's dinner.
Christmas Eve was ushered in with freezing rain and snow which made for treacherous driving. Randy smoked two more racks of ribs. We rounded out our meal with Marcia's mac and cheese, collard greens & cookies, Diana's clam dip, Dave's carrot cake and my slaw & corn pudding. There was plenty of food since 6 out of 15 guests canceled due to the weather. ❄️
Monday morning we braved the slick streets to celebrate Christmas day at Sharon and Larry's, my in laws. Sharon made a delicious breakfast casserole. We opened gifts, played cards and enjoyed family time.
Christmas dinner was back at Aki and Kay's. A seafood feast of Marcia's steamer clams & crab cakes and Sally's caesar salad before ending the night with 3 rousing games of 5 crowns. 🎄

We hope that our family and friends had a Merry Christmas and wish you all a happy, healthy and safe new year. 🍾🎉
The week between Christmas and New Year was spent dining and visiting with friends and family; bathing and clipping Kuma; performing minor repairs and housekeeping around Aki and Kay's home and just hanging out.
My cousins Sally, Michele and Diana, with help and guidance from Auntie Aki, have taken over preparing our New Year's Eve japanese feast. Thank you Sally for transcribing and preserving Bachan's recipes and many thanks to all for their contributions to our delicious meal. 🍤🍣🍥🍲🥂
