Monday we had a beautiful, but hilly and curvy journey to Long Beach RV Resort.
Tuesday we biked from the RV park to Cape Disappointment State Park and into North Long Beach on the Discovery Trail. Bonus! I didn't realize the Kite Festival was under way during our stay.http://kitefestival.com/washington-state-intern…
Wednesday we visited Fort Columbia Historical State Park. We toured the Interpretive Center, strolled around the different buildings and one of the batterys then took a 4.5 mile hike through old growth forest on Scarborough Hill. https://parks.state.wa.us/506/Fort-Columbia

After dinner we took Kuma for an evening walk on the Discovery Trail and let him frolic on the beach.

We extended our stay in Seaside to ten days and enjoyed the cool coastal temperatures.
The afternoon of our arrival we visited the build site of our friends, Val and Carl's, beautiful new home in Gearhart then headed back to our place for dinner.
We've spent our days meeting new friends on the pickleball courts, bicycling, taking long walks here and in Astoria, picking blackberries, reading, watching the tube,
dining on tuna fish and chips and watching the runners in the Hood to Coast Relay complete the last leg of their race. https://hoodtocoast.com/

We had a nice drive back to our Home Base in Boring, Oregon.
The past week was spent visiting and sharing meals with family, playing pickleball at Hillendale, harvesting plums and tomatoes at Uncle Kay's and helping Kyle & Kelly get settled in their new rental home.
Today we moved to Portland Fairview RV Park, for a two week stay, while we have a concrete driveway and RV pad poured at our Home Base.En savoir plus

Well... We'd hoped that the concrete driveway and RV pad at our home base would be poured by the end of our two week stay here at Portland /Fairview RV Park but it was delayed to this coming Tuesday. 🤷
We've kept fairly busy during our stay, we celebrated Sharon's birthday as well as Kuma's; lunched with Jan; attended a Celebration of Life for our friend Karen; played pickleball at Hillendale with our PB mentors Jim & Angie followed by lunch at Nineteen33; breakfast with Terri & Jan at Jam on Hawthorne; turned about 25 pounds of plums into prunes using my early birthday gift from Kyle; made a delicious cake and soup using the produce from Terri's garden; binge watched Succession on HBO.
Tomorrow we travel to Neskowin Creek RV Resort for a five night stay.En savoir plus

We had gorgeous weather during our stay at Neskowin Creek RV Resort.
Tuesday and Friday we played pickleball at Dorchester Park in Lincoln City.
Wednesday we bicycled around Neskowin and got a good workout peddling and walking our bikes up a Tsunami Evacuation Route.
Thursday morning we hiked the Tsunami Evac Route beside the RV Resort, a nice 2.5 mile trek through the forest, then met our son Kyle at the Otis Cafe for a delicious lunch. https://www.otiscafe.com/
After lunch we drove down to Depoe Bay where we watched the waves crashing along the seawall and strolled the main drag. Though we didn't spot any whales we did catch some spray from the Spouting Horn.

Last Sunday we celebrated Uncle Kay's 88th Birthday with a pizza party (his request) and a Zoom reunion with family. Marcia created a beautiful and delicious birthday cake as well as an apple tart.
In Japanese culture, the 88th birthday, or “Beiju” (米寿), is known as the long life celebration. Beiju is a play on the kanji characters for rice and 88. “Bei” (rice米) is important in Japanese society because it sustains life and represents purity and wholesomeness. “Ju” (寿) means blessing to one’s longevity or just congratulations for a long life well lived! The character for rice can be broken down to its basic components and rearranged as 八十八、or 88.
Our RV Park borders the BLM's Wildwood Recreation Site so I've been taking advantage of the miles of hiking trails as well as biking through the resort. https://www.blm.gov/visit/wildwood-recreation-site
Randy's been taking it easy this week as his knee has been acting up.
Today I celebrated my 66th birthday. The in-laws took Randy and I out for a delicious lunch then Kelsie and Braden came up to Welches and we hiked the Wildwood Recreation Area to the Salmon River where we observed many salmon spawning. A perfect day!En savoir plus

Last Monday was the final pour of the driveway and RV pad at our Home Base. 😊
Weather permitting, we continue to hike the many trails around us while enjoying the progression of autumn's colors.🍁
Yesterday we gathered at Kelly and Kyle's to celebrate Sharon, Kyle, Uncle Kay and my birthdays and to "warm" their new home.🎂🏡 Uncle Kay gifted us with beautiful potted chrysanthemums, Kelsie provided the appetizer and salad, Kyle picked up food from his favorite Chinese restaurant and Marcia baked an apple bundt cake as well as a very yummy chocolate, pear tart. Mother Nature really put on her autumn wardrobe this week. The Fall colors are amazing. 🍁🍂
Tuesday we met our former neighbor and RVing buddy, Leslie, for lunch at Nineteen33 in West Linn. She and Chad are building a home in Florida. We hope to visit them during our travels.
Friday we took our home to
S & T Truck repair for service. They are an excellent service center and we highly recommend them https://snttruckrepair.com/
We took advantage of a perfect fall day on Saturday and drove to Kiyokawa Farm Stand in Parker for apples. So many varieties to choose from. 🍎https://kiyokawafamilyorchards.com/
Our next stop was Cascade Locks, one of our favorite weekend getaways, pre retirement, followed by
a stroll around Bonneville Fish Hatchery. I never tire of visiting Herman the Sturgeon.

We've enjoyed our stay at Mt Hood Village RV Resort, especially all of the hiking trails and discovering the apple tree at Wildwood.

After a stop for an oil change at Speedco in Aurora we spent October 19-25th at Elite Renovation and Repair in Harrisburg, Oregon, having annual service and repair performed on our home. Elite is a small shop owned by three former technicians and production staff of the original Monaco brand who take pride in quality work and customer service. Thank goodness we didn't encounter any supply chain problems with needed parts. https://eliternr.com/
We spent our days taking walks, visiting our favorite produce stand in Coburg, and shopping. Monday we met my sister, Marcia, in Lebanon for dinner.
We arrived back at our home base to an easy entry onto our new driveway and RV pad. 😊
Today we went to the Deschutes County Fairgrounds in Redmond for RV Driving School, hosted by Beaver Coach Sales. The lesson was more for me than Randy, he definitely knows how to pilot a diesel coach after seven years and 50,000 miles.
Our "practice" coach was a 2022 Newmar London Aire priced at over $800,000. 😲

Not too much happening the past two and a half weeks. We shared clam chowder with Uncle Dan, Sally and Dave; Took lunch to Auntie Mary's; Attended Gresham High School's Dedication/Open House Celebration with my sister, Marcia, so nice they saved some of the original architectural details from the original building; Shared a meal with Betty Jean; dined out with Kelsie & Braden; today I met Jan for lunch at Pho.com while Randy smoked ribs in preparation for Christmas Eve Dinner.

We were thankful to be able to gather with our vaccinated family members for Thanksgiving Dinner at Uncle Kay's. As is tradition it was hosted by my sister, Marcia, Randy and I.
We took take-out from Meeka's to Kyle and Kelly's, met for lunch with Angie and Jim and I lunched with my friends Jan and Terri.
Randy's kept busy getting our home ready for our southerly migration next month. I've been crafting Christmas gifts and cooking a lot of comfort food. We've also been doing a lot reading and streaming Succession, Westworld, the Righteous Gemstones and Dexter New Blood. We're eagerly looking forward to warmer weather and outdoor activities next month.
Yesterday Uncle Kay, Kelsie and I visited the Milwaukie Museum. Since Kay has lived in Milwaukie almost his whole life it was interesting hearing his perspective on the exhibits.https://milwaukiemuseum.com/

Randy, Marcia and I hosted Christmas Eve Dinner at Uncle Kay's. We dined on Randy's smoked baby back ribs, my corn pudding and cole slaw, Marcia's mac & cheese, collard greens and cookies, Sharon's Jello salad,Giuseppe's pizza, Diana's clam dip and Dave's famous carrot cake. We spent quality time visiting, watching movies and playing Pegs and Jokers.
A delicious breakfast casserole and baked french toast was enjoyed during our Christmas Brunch at Sharon and Larry's. After exchanging gifts and an impromptu ukele jam session we played a couple of rousing games of Pegs and Jokers.
Christmas evening we headed back to Uncle Kay's for our annual Christmas seafood feast. Marcia prepared fried razor clams as well as cioppino loaded with lobster, prawns, clams and halibut, Sally provided a delicious ceasar salad. After our meal we played.... wait for it... Pegs and Jokers.
It was wonderful gathering with our loved ones this year and we hope that all of our friends and family had a very Merry Christmas❤️🎄❄️En savoir plus
