Transfer Desk

After a patient wait, a friendly check in for my Air Namibia flight to Windhoek.
"Biltong"

An Interesting In-flight offering, a perserved smoked meat that is a Namibian traditional delicacy. To top it off a fellow passenger offers me a Krispy Kreme donuts.. How could I refuse.. 🙄
A Warm Welcome

With temperatures in the 80's and a mild breeze blowing across the tarmac it's like a tropical welcome to Namibia.
Hotel Thule

A much larger room than I expected for a studio. $82 per night with a free breakfast included which I am looking forward to more for the restaurant views than food.
Father Of The Nation

Dr Sam Nujoma founding president and father of Namibia.
Christ Church

A Lutheran Church that is a historical landmark built in the early 1900's.
National Museum

Their blood and water, our freedom.. memorial.
Hotel Thule

Beautiful views from this hilltop hotel and restaurant where practically everyone greets you with a .... "Good Morning"
The Edge Restaurant

Smoke Game Meat for breakfast.. 😋
Back For Seconds

Not sure what game meat it is but I can see why smoked meat is a Namibian traditional delicacy.
Namibian Craft Center

A good stop for souvenirs located in a complex that has a variety of offerings including restaurants. Surprisingly there is also a decent selection of stores and merchandise with similar prices at theЧитать далее
Daan Viljoen Reserve Park

A private reserve not far from Windhoek that makes for a perfect half day trip for hiking or enjoying Namibian outdoors. Small entrance fee.
Parking Attendant

I had not been parked two seconds before this guy approached me.
Hiking Options

With limited time I took the 1.5km option. Don't forget water and sun protection.
Ancient Cemetery

Unlike Grant's Tomb, I'm not sure who is buried here but with temperatures soaring in the high 90's to over 100 at certain times of the year... Ummmm????
Trail Markers

Sometimes not the easiest things to spot but footprints in the sands helps.
A Shade Tree

That's naked of leaves no doubt due to the arrid conditions here. Namibia is currently in a state of serious drought.
A Desert Landscape

Void of much green and water except for an occasional cactus or plant life.
Stengel Dam

A watering hole that I unconsciously approached with too much noise and scared away a local visitor. Guess I'm no Elmer Fudd🙄
Another Dam

That at this time of the year is just holding back dirt.
Oh No...

Now he has brought reinforcements.. 🤪
Day Pass Fees

As little as N$50 about $3 US for a Non-Namibian.
Daan Viljoen

Administrative office with cool design.
C28 Highway

Nice roads across a desert landscape with an occasional but often friendly Police Checkpoints along the way.
Local Town/Village

Not sure how they survive the midday heat in homes made out of metal but somehow they do..
