After coffee and some rest we went to the beach through a tunnel. The water was really cold - maybe 15°C. We didn't swim, just walk in the cold water.

700 coffee in caravan. Romi was quite finished and had one big blister on her heel. We walked only 11km to Esposende and there we took a bus to São Romão de Neiva (2.2e pp) (the bus was 1 hour late ! - but we were not the only one waiting, so we were quite confident, that it will come eventually).
Than we walked another 6km to our accommodation, having lunch (salad, beer, wine) in Chafé - place where I walked allready with my kids 5 years ago.
At 1700 we arrived at Casa Dia's where we had booked a room for 55e. It started to drizzle, but fortunately after we had arrived.
We had some wine and cheese for a dinner and some fruits later. We went early to bed.Read more

730 We had breakfast at the hotel at 830, so we started later today. Not very pleasant walk partly along a main street with lot of traffic and on a long (1.2km) bridge across Rio Lima. Second "breakfast" in a bar in Viana do Castel (beer, brandy, port wine).
We took the elevator to Santa Luzia and walked from there down through beautiful eucalyptus + pine forest to Carreço. There were also lot if blackberries.
On the way I have realised that I had forgotten to return the key from our room. At Carreço we found a post office and I was about to send to key back by a mail. But first I have called the hotel, the owner told me he was just now nearby returning from his work in Afife, so he could pick the key up. What a lucky coincidence.
We had one beer and than we walked another 3 km to Afife where we took the train to Gondarém.Read more

Hotel Vila d'Artes

Our hotel (60e) was only 400m from the train station and has a nice swimming pool, where we could relax little bit with a beer and coffee and wine.

We started late - after breakfast. We didn't walk on the Camino but on a nice cyclo-path along the river. In Vila Nova de Cerveira (4km) we made small break and had o.juice and brandy/gin. In Carvalha (12km) beer + snacks + port wine.
It was too early to check-in at our hotel and anyway the walk would be too short, so we decided to go further to Valença - to see the town and have dinner - and than go back by train or taxi in the evening.Read more

Nice fortified city. We had a dinner in a cafe in the centre: beer, salad, veal steak, wine.
The last train was at 1830, so we took a taxi (10e) to our hotel Padre Cruz (54e).

800 after the breakfast we walked again to Valença, where we had coffee, beer and lot of port wine. We skipped the centre, where we were yesterday allready and went over the Portuguese- Spanish border to Tui.Read more

In Tui we had lunch: salad, beer, wine and my favourite mejillones vinagreta. We bought one new walking stick and one Santiago T-shirt.
Another beers, coffee and coke on the way. We arrived at our Motel (40e) at about 1800. The check-in was little bit confusing: no reception, entrance through the garage, the receptionist + room service (wine + sandwich) came through the wardrobe! But the room was comfortable with country view and big bathroom.Read more

800 no breakfast, quite unpleasant walk in the industrial zone before Porriño. First bar (coffee + beer) after 7km. Lunch in O Porriño (salad, mahou, wine) at 10km. At 13 km we left the Camino and climbed up to toward the airport, where we had booked a room (60e) in a motel only 1 km from the airport. Beer, coffee and some local liquor on the way.
We arrived at the motel at 1700. After shower and some rest we went to the next restaurant (350m) for dinner but they were closed until 2000, so we had some snacks in the cafeteria and bought wine (1.30e for a bottle!) and cheese for the evening, which we spend watching TV.Read more

Flying home ?!?

700 only 900m to the airport. Flight with Vueling to Barcelona at 955 and then to Malta at 2125.
In Barcelona me had lot of time between the flights. First we wanted to walk around the airport to the beach, but it was too hot and too far, so we went to the next café in El Prat for a beer and a salad. Then a heavy thunderstorm started, so we went inside and spend all afternoon drinking wine and eating delicious tapas.Read more

Stuck in Barcelona

Because of the thunderstorm all flights were delayed, some cancelled. Our was 2h delayed, but when the plane eventually came, the crew couldn't fly back because of the regulations. After another 3h waiting they told us that Vueling didn't send a new crew and that they are not answering the call !! I tried to call them as well only to find out, that the working hours at Vueling hotline are from 9am to 9pm. It was 1am.
What now ?
I've booked a new flight (127e) for tomorrow (actually it was allready tomorrow). All hotels in and around the airport were full, because of the cancelled flights. The nearest one was in Barcelona 13km away: Senator Spa for 126e. We arrived there by taxi (30e) at 2:30 and had to wait another 40 minutes for the check-in because:
1. there were another people like us allready waiting
2. the booking from booking.com wasn't in system, because the hotel's own booking office closed at midnight - fortunately they had enough free rooms, but we had to pay higher price
3. the receptionist was allready tired from so many manual bookings
4. the system was slow making backup

The next day we spend in Barcelona (after we slept until 10h) walking, drinking and eating delicious Spanish food, hoping that this evening we will come home.Read more

Vueling can fly!

On Saturday our flight was "only" one hour delayed and we had to change the plane.... but than a wonder happen and we eventually took off.
