    Barbados arrival

    March 26, 2023 in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

Long travel day without any problems ! Landed at Barbados and was put on bus driven by a future race driver to the ship, luggage will follow sometime. Good system.
Got into cabin 9060 and we were surprised and welcomed by flowers, champagne, chocolates and complimentary photo studio session; we wondered if everyone gets this or has a certain family member organised this? GREG ?
Had our share of cocktails this evening, so getting full use of premium drinks package, had a Rum one as seen in picture, 3 different rums and then it was bedtime!
Theres a large percentage of cruisers here who wont notice putting on an extra 7 kgs of weight.
    Bequia (pronounced beck-way) tomorrow.
    Hope your all well.
    It's hot here, 30+.

  • Bequia - Day 2

    March 27, 2023 in Guadeloupe ⋅ 🌬 25 °C

Bequia is described as the unspoilt island in the Caribbean, and it certainly is. Spent the morning just walking and visited Princess Margaret beach.
It was dress up night tonight so we got our photo taken ; thank you again. We had our first speciality dining at kor a-la a pan-asian restaurant. No chavs there! Mam found that she liked sushi and Chinese dumplings (jowsers), there's hope at last!
At night there are so many stars on middle of caribbean sea.

  • Antigua - Day 3

    March 28, 2023 in Antigua and Barbuda ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

As we docked this morning we caught sight of a black dolphin. Did our first tour; Discover Antigua which highlighted English bay, Shirley heights (eric clapton has house on hill) and Nelsons dockyard.
Now in bar drinking Wadadli local beer, a cold one as its very hot here.

  • Phillipsburg St Maarten - Day 5

    March 30, 2023 in Sint Maarten ⋅ 🌬 26 °C

I think by last night we had emptied the boat out of Flor de Cana rum on our premium drinks package.
At breakfast this morning we thought we should lay off the drink a bit and give our livers a break. Before 10am in Philipsburg we were on our first frozen mojito cocktail, if you drink before 10am your not an alcoholic but you are a pirate. Whilst enjoying our drink we watched an aggressive local argument about beach pitches, wish I had video it.
Philipsburg is a very pretty beach front town but very touristy, expensive jewellers etc and pushy staff and a lot of Americans!
Wonder of the Seas berthed next to us was largest cruise liner of 2022 and holds 5734 normal double occupancy and 7000 max passengers, ours holds 2000. Ours is big enough!

  • Road Town Tortola BVI - Day 6

    March 31, 2023 in British Virgin Islands ⋅ 🌬 27 °C

Last night i found a bar with a fullish bottle of Flor de Cana so asked bar man to hide it for me only, he found it funny.
Definitely got to try and have a dry day soon!
Road Town of BVI is really friendly, maybe friendliest yet. Did a walk explore around town then decided to do a group open taxi truck 2 hour tour at a 1/4 of what cruise charges,! Visited some lively places and a 400 year old rum distillery. To top it off went back and hotting Pussers pub, very famous.Read more

  • At sea - Day 7

    April 1, 2023, Caribbean Sea ⋅ 🌬 27 °C

Its our first day at sea as we travel 400+ miles back to Bridgetown to complete the first weeks holiday, lose some passengers, get new ones, re-stock supplies and hopefully get a few more bottles of Flor de Cana!
So today will be all about getting some rest, recharge the batteries for the last week.

  • Bridgetown Barbados - Day 8

    April 2, 2023 in Barbados ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

A nice anniversary breakfast on our balcony with your messages, they screwed up and sent us a second champagne, flowers and cakes after Diane had clarified we already had them when they asked!
Walking day in Bridgetown, old town, rhianna drive, mount gay distillery shut! Worth seeing but I think most tourists just bypass it.
Surf and Turf special dinner tonight.

  • Castries St Lucia - Day 9

    April 3, 2023 in Saint Lucia ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

We need to abstain and do some serious walking after last night's dinner, but somehow I don't think there will be any abstaining!
Castries St Lucia is the best most pretty harbour we have arrived in. A walk around town thru market was good. We then decided to take private taxi tour for 2 hours, well worth it. Our driver was a guy called Max Richard, his son Anton Richard is a national St Lucia goalkeeper.
Its now rest time with a couple of cocktails, so the abstaining didn't work, surprise surprise.

  • At sea again - Day 10

    April 4, 2023, Caribbean Sea ⋅ 🌬 27 °C

All night and day sail from St Lucia to Aruba, our next stop.
So today will be a slumming it out day, and for mam it will be day to hopefully recover and get over her head cold.
It's weird, a lot of people have coughs and splutters. I put it down to the Aircon.
I was up early, 6am to watch sunrise and left mam in bed snoring! Nobody else around!
One of today's pictures shows the weed in the sea, one guide said it was from saragosa sea and its a nuisance and stinks.
At midday we were about 200 miles from land and we still see large "skua" type birds gliding and diving into the sea for fish. They glide effortlessly into the wind pat the ship. Video is best I took earlier in holiday.
Tonite was Nonna's, self designed pasta or pizza and good desserts, we may go again.
    Outside movie nite, nice.

  • Aruba - Day 11

    April 5, 2023 in Aruba ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

Aruba is roughly 15 miles long and 4 miles wide and about 20 miles from Venezuela.
We did a 3 hour bus tour today, then went into town, got mams meds and a couple of cocktails.
It's a nice place, a lot of it protected nature but the other half of it is like being in miami or Orlando and prices reflect that. But a very good day so far.Read more

  • Willemstad Curacao - Day 12

    April 6, 2023 in Curacao ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

Today is the start of the countdown, the last 3 islands and our second Dutch based island after Aruba.
    These islands are wealthy!
We learned yesterday that Aruba. Curaçao and 4 other islands were traded with the Dutch for New Amsterdam, they still have dominion over these islands whereas UK lost New York.
Curaçao has made it into top 3 of places we have experienced. Nice town, lots to see, Dutch, tidy, not to touristy, arty/bohemian and not too expensive.

  • Grenada - Day 14

    April 8, 2023 in Bonaire ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

We are on our way to Grenada. This morning we are doing a trial pack as our hold bags need to be outside our door at midnight. Why the trial pack? Its because we can bring back 4 litres of spirit and bags are not weighed, they go straight from ship to plane.
It has got a little colder, much cloudier and a little rain today, I guess that's why cruise season finishes here soon.
Did 4 hour tour of Grenada, its a good place, lots to see, very colourful.
