On the mend

I can definitely say there's another improvement in my foot again when I wake this morning. I've been given an oil to massage it daily and although it's painful it does feel better afterwards. This morning I chat with Dion about the Gibbon monkeys and didn't realize that there were so many different types. The native ones here are the white faced gibbon and the black gibbon and named relevantly. They are very difficult to come across but one of the treks saw them yesterday. They also see the black gibbon which is really unusual. The nice thing is they stay with the same partner for life. I feel extremely homesick today and it's nothing imparticular I'm thinking of but I'm actually just missing hugging people. I get totally distracted by getting shown card tricks but then being shown how it's done then learning to balance a spoon and fork on a matchstick on the edge of a glass. I'm so grateful to be learning new things every day. Just worried I will have forgotten them by the time I go home. Then I'm beckoned into the kitchen to start my cookery class with Dewi and the help of Ayu and Pitri . We are cooking meat rendang and start with dry frying coconut until it turns brown then putting it into a food processor and blitzing to a paste the depth in flavour it gave was immense. Other ingredients were chilli ginger garlic lemongrass coconut milk gelang lemon leaves and tumeric leaves. Omg it was delicious and I enjoyed it later in the evening . I've recorded a video today for a young man named Evandro. One of the many people I've met along my travels who I will always remember by his quote "The world will always find a way to put awesome people together" I spend a few hours entertaining Esbi and teaching him how to count with cards with only the jungle orchestra to be heard. It's really beautiful. Today my food of the day is Kotol Kamping which translates to "god's balls" it's like a Michelin star banana fritters with coconut and psalm sugar and is absolutely delicious. I head to bed at 11 as I have an alarm set for 2am for the gameRead more
