Tirana Arrival

So after staying up to watch the England game I make my way to the Airport for 4am. The ease of being able to fly from Liverpool is so much better. The flight takes just over 3 hrs and we landed 30 minutes ahead of time. I've pre booked a taxi on watts app and after picking up a SIM card and exchange some cash I'm able to use the watts app to message him that I've arrived. The hostel is about half an hour from the airport and I'm dropped right out side. Check in isn't till 2pm so I've come to the little coffee shop next door to chill for half an hour. I still have a couple of hours to spare so as I've always said the best way to know somewhere is to walk it. I decidey first point of call will be the tourist information office. I like to have a paper map, I know it's old fashioned but it's what I like. It's a 30 minutes walk and on the way back I go to bunk art 2. It's the history of the country set in a bunker explaining about communism. The museum is set in a 1000 square meter underground nuclear bunker and is certainly nice and cool. On the way back I spot the FIFA Fan zone and make my way across Skanderbeg square to have a nosey. I've bookmarked it to come and watch the Spain game tonight. It's just before 2 so I decide to head back and check in. I meet the girls sharing my room and join them for a bite to eat. We have a wander round the city and visit the "house of leaves" which is the house of secret intelligence. We wander back the hostel and rest a while before I head down to the bar downstairs to watch the football.Read more
