Rift Valley Hike

We did a morning hike (10km) in the Rift Valley, departing from Chefchaouen as it came to life. The city, whitewashed in different shades of blue, is spectacular on its own but with the surrounding mountains, it’s a sight to behold. Cannabis is a major agricultural crop in this area and it was at the stage where it had been harvested and was being dried, some on roof tops, some on the ground and some in abandoned buildings. It is now legal to grow but not to consume. It is a country of many contradictions. We lunched in a nearby town and then were driven back to Chefchaouen in “vintage” British Range Rovers. Roads were rough and windy and a few prayers were uttered. We were serenaded periodically by the squeaking brakes. It’s all part of the adventure! Czytaj więcej
