    Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine-Part 1

    April 8 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine is a very important Shinto shrine in southern Kyoto. It is famous for its thousands of vermillion Torii gates which straddle a network of trails behind its main building. The trails lead into the wooded forest of the sacred Mount Inari which stands at 2,033 meters and takes approximately 90 minutes round trip to navigate. Foxes are believed to be the messengers of the God Inari which explains the presence of fox statues on the shrine grounds.Read more
