    The Great Wall of China

    We set off at 6am to travel about 80 kms to get to Matianyu, one of the best preserved sections of the Great Wall. After two shuttle buses and a gondola, we reached the starting point. It certainly was a “pinch me”moment when we took our first steps along the iconic wall that winds along 5 kms of mountain ridges and through the 22 watchtowers on this section. The Great Wall, stretches 6000km west from the mountain ridges north of Beijing. It was originally constructed to protect Chinese empires from nomadic northern tribes.Read more
