    Goodbye Santiago!

    October 6, 2023 in Spain ⋅ 🌙 23 °C

It's so good to have Mario here with me for this next travel in Spain!
As we wait in Santiago airport, for our flight to Seville, I think of the country roads where I've walked for this past long month. Only farmlands throughout the north of spain have I slowly hiked while listening to bells of sheep, goats, and cows throughout the hills. And there were the large cathedral bells that announced the hours daily. The sound of roosters in the mornings, the smell of fermented fruit on the ground, and the earthy farm yard aroma. I'll miss how the stars show up at night in the dark country sky.
We're off to the south of Spain. The lights, the food, the flamenco dancing, and to absorb the incredible moorish history. Another kind of adventure awaits us! (✨️)

It's all so fascinating being in this beautiful city! It's extremely warm. Mid day showers and a nap help to break up the days of walking and sightseeing. Night life is the social way of life in spain; night activity extends til well after midnight, every night. We retire at 11:00.Read more

  • The Cathedrals and the Art!

    October 9, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

There are artist shops displayed beside the Catedral de Santa Maria de la Sede y de la Asuncion de Sevilla. The delicious aromas of spices, incense, and sweet baked goods are everywhere!
I bought a lovely scarf from a weaver. There are so many fascinating things and places to see, and so little time to visit it all.Read more

  • THE CROWDS IN CORDOBA

    October 13, 2023 in Spain ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

I've lost track of my blog keeping. But then, that's what we do when we travel; we get lost in exploring where we're at. This time of year is so thick with tourists that it's been a challenge moving through crowds everywhere we go. And you really have to plan your eating hour just right each day. If you show up to eat after 4:, you don't eat, for all food preparations shut down until 8: pm, when the restaurants open again and serve till midnight. But alcohol is served all hours, just not food. Between the hours of 2:-4:, tables are full on patios everywhere, and it's often very hard to find an empty seat. Most often, there are smokers beside you while you eat, for smoking is still a lifestyle for so many Spaniards.Read more

  • Andalusian Beauties

    October 14, 2023 in Spain ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

Visiting the Royal Horse Stables in Cordoba. This stable is the second oldest running stable in the world. What a beautiful show of watching these Andalusian beauties dance. The finest footwork and jumps I've ever seen in horses! We were not allowed to video or take pictures of the show, but we did get pictures of them in practice and after show close ups.Read more

  • The Prado of Madrid

    October 15, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

The Prado was amazing! It takes hours to view its many rooms! Paintings and sculptures from the 1100s to the 1800s. There was so much history revealed in every room, so much more than I could absorb in a day.
Other pictures of windows and places visited on our way walking to the Prado.
The last picture is a view from our room in Madrid.

  • 5/8 Last Days in Santiago!

    June 8 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

    In waiting to fly,
    I whisper goodbye to Spain,
    wearing her blessings.

It's my last challenge before flying home tomorrow. I have hours to wait in the Santiago Airport, then even more hours to wait in Madrid. Patience, I say, read your book cover to cover. Write, sleep, and dream. The sun will sink, the moon will rise and fall, and after the sun rises again, I'll be flying home. It's been an incredible journey in so many ways. I'm saturated in contentment with my fill of adventure (for now, anyway).💖Read more
