  • On the road… The N. Cascade Highway!

    31. mai 2025, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 77 °F

Enjoy the shade and lunch in Twisp, though the Saturday market didn’t give us many options…. (although Harry said it was the best hamburger he’s ever eaten in his life!) and that was just the beginning of our mostly spontaneous undertaking to get back to Seattle via the North Cascades Highway. Half of the year, it is closed due to snow.

And from the elevation climb in the steep cliffs and roaring waterfalls, when can imagine how much snow comes down here during the winter.

Our weather turned a bit nasty, but it was a beautiful trip through new spaces.

  • Missing a friend

    31. mai 2025, Forente stater ⋅ 🌧 52 °F

Chris has never been to Oso Washington before, but just over a decade ago there was a tragic mudslide that took out a whole neighborhood and killed over 40 people.

A good friend of ours from Longview was part of the recovery efforts as a firefighter, and the difficulty of this disaster lingered. Has Chris reflect on it all, he really really misses his friend.

It’s a touching memorial to those lost and affected.

  • The Grand Finale!

    31. mai 2025, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 57 °F

Meier Eagan, our missing upper class buddy on the trip, had a good excuse… He had a major role in the musical Hadestown at his high school. So the greatest way to finish up, our grand adventure was to sit on the front row with some additional friends (thanks for joining us Lisa, Nikki, Josselyn, Annie, Logan and Blakesley!) to enjoy the show.

Outstanding… Outstanding… Outstanding! Loved the performance, you are great!

  • The Right Kind of Tired

    31. mai 2025, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 52 °F

Ok, the Lyons boys are home from their big trip…our hearts happy, our souls filled, and minds overflowing with sabb (short for sabbatical, but pronounced sob) stories.

Needless to say, we are tired… But it’s a good kind of tired and we’ll post some closing reflections soon.

Thanks for all of your encouragement and prayers for those who have followed our journey. Big thanks to Lisa and the rest of the homebase who cheered us on as well.

So much gratitude for God’s provision.
