First day to Scotland!

Today we arrived in Glasgow and even though we were jet lagged we set of on a hop on hop off tour of Glasgow, which was absolutely amazing and extremely pratical we were able to get off at any stop have a look around take photos and jump back on the next bus that stopped.
Were were even more lucky to arrive while the national bagpipe competitions were being held!
It was long however until tiredness took aver and we caught the train to Air to get settled in our bed and breakfast for the night!Read more

Glasgow!

Our first day in Glasgow!! The view from the double decker bus on our way into.the city!
The travel was ling and we were up early but we for sure had our second wind when we touched down in Scotland!!!
We stared the day with a much needed coffee and lunch before we head of in search of our bus tour!Read more

Glasgow tour!

We found the bus and hopped on! It was freezing but we sat in the back because it was nore open and we could see and hear more! And lucky for us we arrived right when the national bagpipe contests were being held! We could hear them playing all through the city!
One thing that absolutely amazed me will in our travels is the history of the the towns! You walk the street and every building has older structures, and the modern just slip in to it, somthing i am not used to seeing!
Glasgow was best known in the 16th century as a trading city! The boats would dock in the river that now flows through the city and trade with near by counties! Is most famously traded tobacco with America before becoming better known for ship building! Which brought on more of its fortune and turned the city into what it is today!
You can still see old work mills and factories on the outskirts of the river!
Not that i saw much of the river as it was the coldest part of the trip and i was to busy staying warm to concentrate.Read more

AYR GLASGOW!!

After a full day of sight seeing in Glasgow we took the hour train ride out to Ayr, to check into our Bed and Breakfast for the night! After we had got unpacked and had a tiny rest we set off to explore just what was around the neighborhood! And lucky for us just down the road was the beach! Obviously nothing a warm blooded aussie would swim in, and as you can tell we wernt coping to well with the cold weather as it was! But it was just as beautiful to look at! We then rugged ourselves up as we walked around the town ready to find a nice place to eat and unwind with a cold pint or two!Read more

After a long day of trips and sigthseeing we headed into town to find a nice place to eat and stumbled across the "The West Kirk" restaurant, its a bar and restaurant in an old church!
The food was amazing! Huge and filling and the drinks went down even better! Two pints of berry cider and i was well ready for bed!Read more

Culzean Castle and Country Park

Well we woke up nice and early and caught the first bus down to Culzean-Castle-and-Country-Park, it was a 45min hike down the forest path until we came across exactly what we were looking for!Read more

Culzean Castle

Today we visited the Culzean Castle! Owned and run by Clan Kennedy and is the former home of the Marquess of Ailsa. Dating back to the 12th century in Scotland. The clan that i can trace my heritage back to!
The Castle is apparently home to at least seven ghosts including a piper and a servant girl.
It was amazing to walk through the castle, and more importantly find painting, and documents that that deplict my ancestors, and there way of life!Read more
