Peter and Bev

Yesterday, Friday was hot, hot, hot, which given the season was to be expected. We grab the taxi to petronas Towers and once around and I had a coffee and Bev tried a new drink - iced bubbly strawberry juice.
I convinced her to model for all the big

    Kuala Lumpur

    October 9 in Malaysia ⋅ ☁️ 32 °C

In Kuala Lumpur got the KLIA Express into Sentral then taxi to a hotel in Built Bintang. It took us about 40 minutes to go a couple of kilometres it took us about 40 minutes because we hit the peak hour traffic and the roads were choked. We've been to KL many times and have never seen traffic this bad. Checked into our hotel, walked around and finally had a meal not far from our hotel and then crashed.
Today we're off to the observation deck of Petronus Towers and then and then taking a Hop on Hop off bus around the city to see a couple of spots without having to get in and out of taxis.

  • Hot hot hot KL

    October 10 in Malaysia ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

A very hot day in Kuala Lumpur.. We spent the day wandering around the Petronus Towers and then went to the observation deck on the 41st and then to 86th floor for more photos then hopped on the on the Hop on Hop off bus and below 2 of KL before getting off at China Town to do a bit of cheap shopping. For the first time for the first time in over 40 years of travelling through Asia Bev did herself proud by really haggling for some perfume and got it at a good price but still obviously a better price for the vendor. I got a pair of joggers to replace a pair I bought in Sydney which were too small and really made my poor little toes very, very sore after slogging around all day. Lunch at 3.15 at a great little place off Petaling Street then the MRT back to Bukit Bintang and now crashing for a 5am start for our 8am flight to DaNang.
Bev was coerced into playing model in the Petronus Centre.

  • DaNang, Vietnam . First day.

    October 11 in Vietnam ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

A very early flight to DaNang this morning and we gained an hour on arrival. Our home for the next week is The Pullman Resort which is right on a beautiful beach. For the first time in 40-plus years of travelling we are on a fully inclusive package - breakfast, lunch, dinner (both three courses), snacks all day around the pool and - most important of all - free flowing drinks all day and night. And not just beer and fruit juices and a cheap wine, but a wide variety of beer, quality wines, cocktails and spirits. Lunch just isn't the same without a mojito..... If anyone calls me Michelin Man when I get back watch out....Read more

  • Danang third day

    October 13 in Vietnam ⋅ 🌧 29 °C

The hectic non-stop travel since Thursday has at last taken its toll. We crashed today and took it easy. We skipped lunch and then had a massage mid afternoon. It was unbelievable. More masseuse hardly reached five feet, was tiny but gave me the best massage I've ever had. Then time for a couple of G&tTs and Long Island iced teas, a quick stroll around the local neighborhood and back for dinner and early to bed. Planning to go HoiAn tomorrow to see how it's changed. This will be Bev's third visit there, and Peter's fourth. when he and Paul went in 2011.Read more

  • Da Nang to Hoi An

    October 14 in Vietnam ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Early morning trip to Hoi An, the world heritage listed town half an hour from DaNang. Traffic was horrendous until we got into the precinct of the Old Town where motorized transport is not allowed. Much, much, more peaceful and quiet. Tried to find a few places we had visited on a previous trips over a decade but given it's been 14 years since we were last there we couldn't find many. Took photos including a couple showing a wheel-around clothing shop and how No parking signs mean f-all....the buffalo is Vietnam's symbol
Back to DaNang and sit around and read and generally relaxed. And a,late (for us ( dinner around 8pm.
