    Day 14 - Shortcut to Robin Hood's Bay

    "The adder is the only poisonous snake in Britain. They pose very little risk to walkers - indeed, you should consider yourself extremely lucky to see one, providing you're a safe distance away" - that's what the guide book says.

    Is 3 cm a safe distance?

    Turns out I'm extremely lucky.

    So is the adder I nearly stepped on.

    Mind you - I was kind of jumpy for the rest of the ankle deep water and knee-high grass we walked through after that sighting.

    We decided to create our own shortcut due to the weather - which meant making our own path as well.
