• Portugal.. take 2..

    Jul 21–Aug 4 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Well… here we go again attempting the Portuguese Camino…
I set off from the Isle of Man yesterday morning getting to the airport super early for the 9.10 flight to Manchester.
As usual when I’m travelling the plane was delayed! .. for once I wasn’t in the least bit bothered as I had until 6pm before my flight departed to Porto.
Lots of hours later it’s time to go to the gate, departure time is here.. but is it?? Go through the gate, down the stairs and about to board the plane when we’re all called back as there’s a “technical issue “ with the plane! Seriously!! Don’t ever travel with me as I’m a serious jinx!!
Turns out the tire needed changing, so 90 minutes later we try again.. success !
The flight was good and we made 30 minutes up, plus I was one of the first to get to get through passport control, ready to meet my pre booked taxi.
Mmm.. another long story, but I eventually made it to my accommodation about 2.5 hours later 😩
Having had a very long day travelling here I was very grateful to have built in a day to explore Porto.
As Steve would attest I’m absolutely useless and have the worst sense of direction.. but.. Porto must be my city as I have navigated my way to everything I wanted to see / do with no difficulty and without getting lost.
My first priority was to go to the Cathedral, get my passport stamped and check my route out of the city in the morning. What a bonus it was to discover it goes past the door of my accommodation tonight.
Anyway, I’ve had a fabulous day exploring Porto, visited THE most amazing bookshop.. just as well I’m carrying everything this time as otherwise I’d be leaving with a bag full of amazing books.. also visited the best and most amazing ( I appreciate I’m over using amazing ) train station, although I wasn’t prepared to pay for a wee in the only place that seemed to be changing you for the pleasure / necessity…
I did also put myself way out of my comfort zone by going up the tower at the Cathedral.. actually think I’ve improved a tiny bit on my heights / edges fear..
I’ve obviously also sampled some excellent food and refreshment.. as you do ! 😂
Off to bed now as I’ve got a big day tomorrow. The first day is always the worst for me as my head is rubbish.
