  • Day 32

    June 29, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Very Sad to leave Exmouth today 😢. We have had the most fabulous time. We managed to do two more drift snorkels in Cape Range NP, Oyster Stacks and Turquoise Bay. On the way out if town we had lunch at the world famous Whalebone Brewery. Drove a few hundred kms towards Karijini NP and stayed at a roadside camp. This made our travels yesterday ( Saturday) not so far. Arrived at Karijini last night after stopping at Cheela Plans Station for coffee and carrot cake and Tom Price for groceries.Read more

  • Days 33 - 36 karijini National Park

    Jun 30–Jul 3, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Leaving the coast is always a bit sad because there is so much fun to be had in the big blue and swimming becomes a bit more precarious the further north you go. But the adventures must continue, we drove from the coast into the ancient red earth landscape of the Pilbara into Karijini National Park. We spent the next 3 days exploring the many breathtaking gorges, swimming, walking, climbing, bum sliding and crab crawling our way around the park.Read more

  • DAY 37 leaving the Pilbara

    July 1, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Today turned into a very long day driving. Our plan was to drive to Mill Stream National Park, have a swim and find somewhere to camp. not what happened. Heavy rains from the week before meant we had to go the long way around. The long way around is the Rio Tinto railway maintenance road. this involved Bob and Brett doing an induction in Tom price to obtain a permit to drive on it. The Pilbara has over 1400km of private rail tracks that connect the mines to the ports. It was an interesting drive passing many trains all approximately 2kms long. Unfortunately, we were unable to get a camp anywhere near Millstream and ended up driving all the way to Karratha.
Luckily, we found a great brewery to help ease the tension of a screwed-up day.

  • DAY 38 To Pardoo (Eighty Mile Beach)

    Jul 2–4, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

After visiting Red Dog in Dampier (and coffee) we hit the Great Northern Hwy. Stopped for lunch in Port Headland, whose claim is to be the world's biggest bulk tonnage export port. I have heard it referred to the world's biggest something else, but I will leave that one alone.
Then on to Pardoo station for a couple of nights. Pardoo Station is a 200000-hectare cattle property owned by a Singaporean and is known for its wagyu before.

  • DAY 40 AND 41 BARN HILL STATION

    Jul 4–6, 2024 in Australia ⋅ 🌬 21 °C

We took a few days to travel the Great Northern Hwy to Broome. 2 nights at Pardoo Station and 2 nights at Barn Hill. Both beautiful locations along the Eighty Mile Beach. Photos of the Eagles eating prey on the road were a collaboration of Bob pulling off the road quickly and my speed and agility, hence not such good shots .Read more

  • Broome

    Jul 9–16, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

We have enjoyed stunning weather for the past week in Broome. 35 ish everyday no wind blue skies. The waters all look so inviting we got in at most beaches, some for not very long and mostly near kids. Did the usual sunset at Cable Beach, town markets, exploring, eating out most nights and of course found the best coffee to walk to in the mornings. We set off tomorrow for 10 nights cruising on the Kimberley Pearl.Read more

  • Coconut Well

Super fun day today. We drove north of Broome to Coconut Well where the huge tides spills through a gap in the sand dunes, creating a picturesque, turquoise lagoon, We walked up the dry sand bed and waited for the tide to start coming in then floated back down. Its about a 1km dift. Note to self to bring floaty toys next time.Read more

  • Kimberley Pearl

    Jul 14–24, 2024 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 25 °C

So excited to board the Kimberley Pearl today for 10nights of discovery in the Kimberley region. Started at Cygnet Bay Pearl farm with a tour of the Pearl production process. Then on the tenders to the mother ship. I think it's fair to say that if day one is anything to go by we are in for a treat. Bob caught the first fish of the trip so he was happy and we scored the penthouse cabin so I was happy with that. Woke up to a beautiful sunrise and a swim at Silica Beach, (With 3 people and a drone on Croc Watch ). Just happened to meet my swimming buddy from Point Lonsdale on the same beach, it's a small world.Read more

  • Kimberley Pearl

    July 22, 2024, Indian Ocean ⋅ 🌬 24 °C

Another day aboard the Pearl. Due to the large tidal movements we were unable to get into a Saxon waterfall without a short walk through a merky looking creek that no doubt had its resident crocodile on lookout.. So it was decided just to explore the river system in the boat. Later in the day we explored a beach cave had a quick dip in the ocean and collected oysters from the rocks. Monday morning we pulled into Wary Bay to look at another art site. My favourite to date.Read more

  • Kimberley Pearl

    July 23, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Another day exploring the Kimberley rock art sites. We pulled up to the cliff faces in the boats tenders and climbed up to The lost city which consists of a series of paintings covering several kms. The paintings are found in rock shelters, caves, under rock hang overs and on open rock faces. They are so fascinating and interesting to listen to possible interpretations.Read more
