• Clair de lune

    January 18, 2025, South Atlantic Ocean ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Last night we stopped completely. Rather than being patient (I feel a little pressure to keep to some semblance of a schedule, possibly a mistake!) we motored for a couple of hours. The wind is back now - about 12kn from the east-south-east so we are making 8-9kn. Quite respectable.

Our four hot watches mean that the moon rise happens before I see the night time sky. It makes hand-steering so easy when the swell can be seen, but I can’t wait for a real night sky. The Milky Way awaits!

Lots of flying fish tonight. They are surprised by us coming upon them so suddenly and scatter like starlings. Skipping off wave tops (or slapping right into them) they amaze me with their transition to flight.
