Jon commented a week ago about the amazing stars but Seb and I have been on the watch with the moon instead of spectacular but not the kind of awe-filled experience that the darkness brings. The Milky Way is resplendent running from horizon to horizon and even the stars outside the galatial (?!) disc are uncountable. And here we are on the endless blue.

We are closing in on Saint Helena. The betting pool (le Paris?) has not gone my way, being far too cunning and taking the open ended early slot of “arrival at 8h59” while the other bids were 9h00, 10h00, and 12h00. Our ETA look like about 15h00 so I’m mustering my funds for the beers necessary.

I think we are all looking forwards to a little touch of land. We will spend only about 8h of sun time here - the grave of Napoleon “bones apart” (he was later repatriated back to France, some fresh fruit and vedge, and Alain has found a quick hike we can do to get our hearts pumping again.

Then we strike out north then west - next stop Fernando de Noronha about 200nm off the Brazilian coast.

I’m starting to wonder if I really need to go back to Ottawa…. Reports of a week of -20degC are uninspiring in that regard!
