    Vliegreis - LA

    The plane ride took forever but we safely landed in LAX. It was a 11 hour flight. I never flown so far on my own so that was a challenge. The flight went very smoothly, didn’t had any ear problems which I usually have a lot. I watched three movies: hp5&6 and the hunger games. Around 2,5 hours each. Tried to sleep but that didn’t really work out.

    Also we got a lot of food. Which was insane. But now my whole food schedule is weird due to eating dinner at 11 Dutch time or eating a pizza bread at 5am LA time.    Read more

    Avond 1 in LA

    We finally arrived at 21:00 Dutch time in LAX. Local time was around 12 pm. It took me almost 2 hours to get through border control and to get my suitcase back. After that I decided to wait for a friend so we could go together towards the dorm. Luckily her border control went a little bit quicker. In the meantime I tried to open my suitcase. Thankfully it worked 😊.

    Also at one point I did a Covid test?? The guy asked me if I wanted to join an international survey. And I was like yeah sure. Turned out that I had to do a covid test, luckily it was just the tip of the nose and I could do it myself but lol what happend??

    After I met Jenni we headed towards the shuttle bus. It took us 1,5 hour ish to get through. I was super super busy with a lot of traffic.

    Once we made it we got picked up by lisa and saga. Luckily it was only a 7 min drive. Also the temperature??? At the airport it was pretty much okay, but at the end of the shuttle trail it was 38??

    We quickly made our way towards the dorm, settled a little bit and went for a walk to get some food at in-n-out burger. They were nice, just a tad better than McDonald’s.

    We talked a lot and made our way back towards the dorm, we packed everything out and gave everything a place. The dorm is so clean and well organized, with a lot of stuff and handy supplies which is very nice. Also the WiFi is very good and the aircondition works amazing.

    After we finished unpacking we tried to wait for our other dancer Lena. Sadly her plane was delayed and she came in 9:30 something. By then we were already awake for more than 25 hours.    Read more

    2 augustus / first dance classes

    Our first day stared nice and chill. We all were awake at 6 in the morning due to our jetleg. So we decided to make some breakfast and go on a walk after that. We walked through the neighbourhood for around 60 minutes. We ended up at a supermarket to meet up with saga. We got our groceries and went back to the dorm.
    It’s so weird that here everything that is healthy is really really. Expensive but everything that’s unhealthy is really cheap. Also the format of some things are insane!!!

    We chilled for a bit at the dorm and we decided to cook ourselves. So I made some pasta. After that we fixed our tap card cuz that was something. And then we went on a trip to take our first dance classes. :)    Read more

    City tour day - hollywood walk of fame

    Today’s planning was city tour; seeing the city and exploring the city. We have go2city passes. So we could do a lot of things. We started with taking the metro and underground towards Hollywood walk of fame. Explored MT. Which is weird. The dolls scared me out. They are super realistic. After that we took the hop on hop off bus tour towards Beverley hills. But beforehand we decided to grab a cup of coffee at Starbucks.Read more

    City tour - beverly hills

    Beverly Hills was so weird to see. Loads of places you know from pictures. Not really interesting at all just nice to walk and see. The weather was insane. My body is still not used to the 100 f.

    City tour - santa monica

    This was by far my favourite stop of the day. First off we headed towards curious. A nice lunch place which we got discount for due to our go city passes. And after that we were supposed to go biking. We just couldn’t find the store which was kind of sad. So we just went on to the pier and checked that out. It feels weird walking here. And surrealistic. You already know all of these places. But seeing it in real life is so weird.
    After that we went for a bit of shopping in the mall. There also was this big shopping street which was very nice. I forgot to bring a sweater so I was freeeeezing. We hopped on a bus and decided to get some pizza in that neighbourhood. After that we took a uber back to the dorm. What a day.    Read more

    Day 4

    August 4, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 36 °C

    I feel like I’m getting used to LA a bit. It’s still super warm and hot. But it’s getting better. I feel a little bit restless since the others really love to sleep in and I’m not yet in that same schedule.

    Today we went to a Westfield mall. Wow. That’s really big. I didn’t expect there would be so much shops.
    First we checked out Nordstrom rack. There are amazing discounted shoes. So I got some new dancing shoes. A little bit different than normal which is nice!!!
    We also tried out Cheesecake Factory. Damn that cheesecake was so big. My lord. I couldn’t finish it at all.
    We walked around for a bit. Discovered some shops and after that we went to millennium. I did two classes, hiphop bij isidora and hiphop by deavon. The first one was a bit flowy and the second one was more housey which was really nice!    Read more

    Day 5

    August 5, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 35 °C

    Today we tried a very new studio called movement (lifestyle). But before that we headed to a big shopping place. We walked around got some coffee and I got some new sun glasses.

    After that we headed towards the studio. We first did a street style class, turned out to be a waving/popping class which was very cool. After that we did an house class. It was all about drills and foundations and freestyle as well. It was very sweaty but really fun to do.

    We tried taking the bus back to the dorm, but we were in the wrong side and had to wait 50 minutes for the next one. We saw that the McDonald’s was around the corner so we walked over there but it got closed down. We decided to take the drive thru since that is possible in the Netherlands. We waited a long time and they just didn’t answer. Instead of telling us to leave they just tried to ignore us. How weird. They just acted that they didn’t saw us. Clearly they did. Apparently it is not common to walk through the drive thru here. So we had no food.
    Luckily our adventure made the time pass quicker.

    We hopped on the bus back to the dorm and ate some noodle soup and went sleeping.    Read more
