    Joli phare aux abords des falaises. Une association de passionnés s’occupent de le maintenir en état. Les grandes prairies et falaises autour du phare permettent de voir plein d’oiseaux différents.

    Lors de nos déambulations, nous sommes allés sur le Pier 39 à Fishermans Wharf. Cela fourmille de vie, et nous en profiterons pour voir les lion de mer de Californie qui ont élu domicile ici (Rappel: lion de mer = otarie).

    Le Presidio est un parc qui se situe au Nord-Ouest de San Francisco et qui contient le pied sud du Golden Gate Bridge. Il est grand, un peu aride et offre de belles vues sur le pacifique.

    Alcatraz

    Nous avons visité Alcatraz. C’est assez impressionnant à voir, et les conditions de détention étaient vraiment sommaires. Maintenant c’est surtout l’un des plus gros lieu de nidation de Goélands et de Cormorans.

    L’un de mes bâtiments préféré de San Francisco ! Construit au dans les années 1910, on sent beaucoup l’inspiration gréco-romaine. Les photos ne rendent las trop honneur a la taille de la construction.

    Casa de Fruita, CA

    Un magasin en plein milieu de nulle part. Historiquement, ce fut une famille de fermier qui vendaient leur produits sur le bord de la route. Avec le temps ca a grossi et maintenant contient un restaurant, station service, boutique cadeau, petit train, …. Cela draine pas mal de monde ! On s’est arrêté car on était intrigué par leur vin de grenade (et d’autre fruits). Plein de choses dans la boutique ont l’air super bonnes.

    A shop in the middle of nowhere. Historically, it was a small fresh produce shop from local farmers near the road. With time it became bigger and now provides a restaurant, gas station, gift shop, little train, … Looks like many peoples goes there ! We stopped because we where intrigued by their pomegranate wine (in France we do with nearly only grappes). Shop as lots of things that looks so great !    Leggi altro

    General Grant est le troisième plus gros arbre (en volume, un peu plus de 1300m3 de bois dans son tronc). On peut y observer de l’autre côté côté les restes d’une brûlure passée.

    Seconde cascade de la journée: Roaring River Falls. Bien plus impressionnante par son débit, on voit bien comment elle a sculpté la roche.

    Zumwalt Meadow, Kings Canyon Park, CA

    Zumwalt Meadow est une grande prairie au milieu du canyon. A cet endroit le canyon à plus la forme d’un U, typique des canyons créés par des glaciers. C’est assez surprenant de voir cette immense prairie en plein milieu d’une forêt bien plus aride.
