Good morning from near the Houston Airport. Last night Charlie Magiera put it well- "His mercies are new every morning." Bob Reger reminded us during a team meeting this morning, "That man makes his plans, but God orders the steps." Our team is incredible. Great attitudes were displayed throughout the night as we sorted thing out. We are thankful to have had a hotel for the night after our flight was cancelled. • 13 Hours on a 4-Hour Bus Ride

    June 28, 2015 in Ecuador ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

On the way back to Quito fom Shell, the team encountered some derrumbes (landslides). This normally 4-hour drive took 13 hours. Some slept, some played games, some read. The conversation even digressed to making animal noises at one point. But the team pulled through with great attitudes. It helped that there was pizza for them when they arrived at 11:00 PM.Read more

  • Minga at Carmen Bajo

    June 28, 2015 in Ecuador ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

We had the privelege of working at the Carmen Bajo Church. Loads of dirt, rocks, and sand were moved. Boards were de-nailed and stacked. Chairs were washed. It was a good day. The team worked hard to the very last minute, and ate heartily at the meals. One of the team-members had a birthday, and he was glad the day was not all about him, as it is on usual birthdays.Read more

Bill and Kevin gave their testimonies, and some team members got to lead worship. It was a blessing to praise God and hear His word in two languages. At night, we got to hang out with the youth.

  • The Zoo

    July 1, 2015 in Ecuador ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

The team took the little kids of the Carmen Bajo school to a zoo about an hour away. When we arrived, we learned that the zoo is closed on Mondays. The tías spoke with el jefe and got us in. We had the zoo all to ourselves and didn't lose any kids! God provided!
Later, we did some market shopping and went to learn about Casa Gabriel and Casa Adalia (homes for street kids).
