  • Mungo National Park

    1 de diciembre de 2018, Australia ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Arrived in Pooncarrie after driving along a horrible corrugated dusty road from Menindee. Had lunch at the old Wharf before finding a camp spot along the dying Darling river where we stayed for 2 nights. It is so sad seeing the condition of this river .. they are deverting the water to the hungry cotton farmers and people along the river miss out. .Spent the arvo cleaning some of the dust out of our van.
While here we visited the Mungo National Park and did the self drive tour around a series of lakes that have dried up over 42,000yrs ago. Mungo Man and Mungo lady remains were discovered here..the oldest human skeletons found in Australia.
We really enjoyed the formation of this awesome area..especially walking around the Wall of China.
