Lunch was welcome

I needed to fuel up with a traditional fish and chips. Changed into dry socks and shoes, which was well needed.
Tea and biscuits

After lunch we had another 12 mi ride in pouring rain. We we're soaked by the time we finally arrived at our lovely B&B.
They gave us tea and biscuits but we were so wet and muddy, we wouldn't sitMeer informatie
Dinner in Sligo

After a shower and a change of clothes (again!!!) we headed off to a lovely dinner in town.
View from our bedroom window

Note the sheep dotting the landscape.
And this was our view of the breakfast table.
But the best part of all was the laundry fairies were hard at work over night so we woke up to clean clothes andMeer informatie
Late start

Started off a bit late. It is a bit but it is a beautiful day for cycling. We saw some gorgeous scenery on our 10 mile first leg.
Biking along

We had a nice 10 mi ride. A little windy, but no rain. We saw Ireland's tallest waterfall.
Glencar Waterfall

Next we got off and had a brief hike up to the base of the waterfall.
Then I had ice cream from a truck. Russell was saving his calories for beer
The Spanish Armada crashed near here

The survivors probably brought their guns ashore.
More Biking

Then it was another 10 mi bike ride through more beautiful scenery.
Late lunch

We we're running so slowly (too many stops for photo ops) we ended up with a late lunch. The guys all had smoked mackerel. Which was tasty, but since they were expecting fresh, it was kind ofMeer informatie
Kelp walk

We had to skip the rest of our planned ride and jump back in the van to make it to our kelp walk. We had a very nice lady explain what edible kelp we could find around here. Made me want to doMeer informatie
Quiet Night

We we're so cold and tired we decided to skip dinner. We opened a bottle of wine and had a quiet evening in the parlor.
Last breakfast at B&B

This place has a great breakfast. We are going to miss it.
Starting out

We tried to get an earlier start today. We did get going a little earlier but not a whole lot.
The weather was beautiful. Slightly windy and cool, but not cold.
Rathcormack

Two days in a row we turned right at this church, so I decided to document it.
Lunch in Bundoran

After about 30 miles of biking, we stopped for a very nice lunch. The town is a sort of seedy, rundown beach town, that is also a big surfing town.
Yoga

After lunch we had another yoga session. This really helped stretch out all those tight biking muscles
Our last dinner with John and Ruairi

We had a lovely seafood dinner with an even lovelier view on our last evening in the northwest of Ireland.
We shut the restaurant down chatting so much. Went straight back to the hotel where theMeer informatie
One more full Irish

The innkeepers here are Scottish and they import their black pudding from Scotland. It was very yummy but too rich for me to finish.
I tried beans and toast for the first time. I must say I was aMeer informatie
Walking around Sligo

We said a sad farewell to our guides in Sligo. Rather than getting on the road immediately, we walked around Sligo a bit and revisited the restaurant we enjoyed the other night.
Then we were on theMeer informatie
Newgrange Monument

This is the largest (oldest?) stone age monument in Europe. Older than the pyramids at Giza. For $7 they let you actually enter this ancient burial chamber. It was very cool (even if they had cleanedMeer informatie
Last supper

We arrived at our hotel in Drogheda, a town outside of Dublin that is convenient to the airport for our flight tomorrow. For some reason they booked us in the Presidential Suite. Which sounds a bitMeer informatie
Last breakfast

This is the first time I have seen pancakes, or anything sweet, on the breakfast menu.
We are running late so between that stress and waking up early, I'm not that hungry.
Last pint in the airport
