After three weeks of surfing, I got to have three days of fossicking đŸ€”

I made the most of it and everyone got into it, well the kids did half days and then got over it, but at least they gave it a go. Not everyone can be addicted like me.

This year, we were at the fields a bit earlier than last year and there had been a lot of rain recently, we found that a lot of the dirt piles had been washed and it made it really easy to see any zircons that previous fossickers had missed. We spent most of our time walking the fields and picking up zircons that people has missed in their digging tailings.

I have to say that, we did much better specking then we did digging, so we concentrated our efforts on specking. We found some beauties and were very happy with our efforts.

We ran into Steve and Dawn who we meet twice last year, once in Alice Springs and again at Mary Kathleen. They are just the nicest and most helpful people who also have a passion for fossicking ( and the most amazing gem collection). Steve took us up to a spot where he likes to speck and we found a few nice gems up in the old diggings. Then we visited Dawn at the van to check out some of her new jewelry pieces 😍.

Then unfortunately, it was time to move on, like usual I could stay longer, but other places to go ( and fossick 😉)!
