What A Fantastic Week Fishing!

Sooo many Barra!
Shaun and I had a great week landing so many fish and exploring the beautiful Daly River. There are so many birds, buffalo, crocs and of course Barra and the weather was sunny and fine all week. It was pretty hot some days but we stayed hydrated with plenty of beers and lived off dry mie goring noodles and packets of chips and shapes.
Shaun and I caught 67 legal Barra over 8 Days with my biggest being 93cm and Shauns 90cm which he got on his last day fishing. Shaun also snapped two rods on fish including my new one I had just bought for Barra fishing, We helped others to catch fish and even made one blokes day after giving him a 75cm Barra, but then giving him some tips that got him hooked up to his own fish right in front of us. One of the craziest things was when we got into a trolling circle with the charter boat and they were getting one fish every 5 trolls with 5 rods out and Shaun and I got a fish every troll and even a couple of double hookups. I think the people on the charter felt a little hard done by.
People always ask about crocodiles but the bull sharks worried us way more. We had many encounters with sharks in the river and considering we were fishing mostly 80-100klm from the ocean they come up a long way and are very aggressive. We watched Shaun’s biggest fish get smashed by a bull shark after releasing it which was sad to witness. We also lost other fish to sharks but never a crocodile, the crocs are quite calm at this time of year and such a beautiful animal to share the river with.
After the week Shaun flew home with his carry on bag filled with frozen Barra fillets for Kat and the kids to enjoy.
I had such a hard time making a video with so much great footage but I think I nailed it, and it is one of the best videos I have created.
Overall it was an awesome weeks fishing that will be very hard to top. It was also great to have my fishing buddy back with me and even better to out fish him 👊😜😂Read more
