• Hidden Falls - Babinda

    October 13, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

The blog said “a slow, easy walk that takes about an hour to reach Hidden Falls”. So at lunch time, we packed a drink and snack and decided to stroll out for a swim.

After over an hour of walking, Brett looked at the map and we were not even half way! Lachlan was not happy! But we did not come all this way not to make it to Hidden Falls.

We climbed rocks and boulders, waded through streams, got attacked by leeches, pushed past sharp leaves and lawyer cain, kept our eyes out for pink ribbons that marked the track and turns to take, all while sweating profusely. Finally, after 3 hours we were at a beautiful gushing waterfall. But to Lachlan’s dismay, this was not ‘Hidden Falls’, Hidden Falls was at the top of this very tall waterfall. Brax and Lachie decided to stay down the bottom and cool off, but Brett and I were not going home without finding Hidden Falls, so up we climbed. It was worth the walk, from the first glimpse we were in awe of its beauty. There it was, hidden up in the rocks between a gorge was Babinda Hidden Falls. We had done it!

Now the issue was, it had taken 4 hours to get here instead of 1! We needed to get back before dark! The way back was a lot quicker, we didn’t take any wrong turns, and smashed it back in an hour, giving ourselves enough time to have a swim and cool down.
