• Bust ups everywhere

    15 November 2023, Great Barrier Reef ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

It’s getting close to the time where we need to pack up and start to head home. There is lots of mixed emotions at the moment.

So, there was no better way to spend a few days together than out on the boat, hanging around the Franklin Islands.

On the way out, there was birdnadoos and fish bust ups everywhere.

We spent the afternoon chasing fish. Brett landed 2 nice ones, everyone caught a shark and the kids just missed getting a few big ones in.

Everyone was hot from fishing, so we pulled up for a swim and walk around the island. There is not many places in the world where I can fill a bucket with amazing shells in under 15min. I told my self no more shells on this trip, but then I thought, what if I am never back here. So I got a few just incase.

That night, when we turned the lights on there was zoo plankton everywhere and these tiny jelly fish! Brett and I started to get worried, they looked just like irukandji. After a lot of googling we discovered they were copula. The best part of the night was the bioluminescence. It was so pretty, like blue fireflies under the water. The more you moved the water the more you could see. Unfortunately, after a tremendous effort it would not show up on the camera 😢.
