• Elephant Orphanage (without elephants)

For our six days in Lusaka I had done some research and booked a serviced garden apartment for us. I was a bit frustrated because I couldn't find anything that we liked within our budget on the big platforms Airbnb and Booking. Through a bit of research I stumbled upon the direct website of this serviced apartment sites, and they offered a 40% discount in direct bookings. Sign me up!

One of the benefits of this place was that they had a very large pool on site that was free to use for guests. I ended up swimming in the 18m long pool four or five times during our stay, so it was definitely a welcome bonus to paying our rent.

Today was our last day in Zambia, and we decided to spend the day with Likumbi. After heading for a nice brunch after checking out, which we used to talk shop about some of the impact initiatives that we are working on together as part of the "Order of the Wild" (a volunteering initiative from the College of Extraordinary Experiences design community which I co-founded) , we headed for an elephant sanctuary in Lusaka National Park - a tiny park at the outskirts of the city.

Unfortunately, the details online were incorrect, and the elephants sanctuary was only able to access for visitors for 30min in the morning, which we had missed by several hours. Oh well, we sat down in the parks café and did some more work. Once the park closed, Likumbi invited us to briefly see her home, before we had to head off to the airport.
