  • Pompeii

    21. april 2023, Italia ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

A visit to Pompeii, which was way too short. I underestimated how large it is, how full it would be, plus we lost a good hour due to traffic and roadworks on the only road from the Amalfi coast. So we only scratched the surface in 2 hours and missed some of what we hoped to see. The ruins of Pompeii were destroyed in the eruption of Vesuvius of AD 79. Vesuvius last erupted in 1944, and is regarded as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world because 3,000,000 people live near enough to be affected by an eruption.Les mer

  • Rome

    21. april 2023, Italia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

We arrived in Rome this afternoon, on the day of Rome's 2776th birthday! Incredible age! We had a quick look at the sights close to our hotel and got a feel for the eternal city. It certainly has flair and style and incredible history that we are excited to explore in the next few days. It is brimming with tourists so hopefully that won't take away from the charm of this beautiful city.Les mer

  • Rome day 2

    22. april 2023, Italia ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Lots to explore in this beautiful city. The highlight so far has been walking the back streets and discovering Rome's hidden gems, after visiting the crowded main attractions including Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, Piazza Navona. We bought some souvenir vintage books and enjoyed traditional Roman dishes for lunchLes mer

  • Colosseum

    22. april 2023, Italia ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

The Colosseum is impressive! We spend a good 1 hour to 1 and 1/2 hours there. First we were directed to the arena floor with our 'special experience' arena floor tickets and then we could do the normal round of the colosseum on the 2nd floor. There is also a small exhibition on the 2nd floor. Definitely worth the tour. Tomorrow the same tickets give us access to the Roman ForumLes mer

  • Slow days in Munich

    24. april 2023, Tyskland ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

We took the night train from Rome to Munich. Let's just say it was an experience! Comfortable it was not. The berth in the couchette was hard, the pillow had the thickness of a towel and we suffered with pressure in our ears at every tunnel (of which there are a lot through the Alps). Best part was the little breakfast we were served with fresh rolls. Last few days we spent in Munich with family and friends, and a day at the Erdinger Therme. The weather was trying really hard to be spring, but winter was still winning, we only had a few breaks in the clouds during our last days here. Off to a short stopover in Singapore for some warmth!Les mer

  • Singapore stopover

    28. april 2023, Singapore ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

Short stopover in Singapore for some warmth, and to ease into the jetlag. We did not focus on sightseeing this trip, as we recently had a holiday in Singapore, this was purely relaxation. So lots of time at the pool and out and about to get some dinner in the eveningsLes mer

  • Changi airport

    1. mai 2023, Singapore ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

Spending a couple of hours exploring 'Jewel' and the indoor waterfall at Changi airport before heading home!
Our wallets are empty, but we are rich in memories. It's been a wonderful adventure, important time with family and friends, new experiences and many wonderful moments. However behind the glossy travel photos there are also stressful moments, compromise, sick days and moody teenagers. But as long as the positive outweighs the negative, we will happily do it all again soon.Les mer

  • Home

    1. mai 2023, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Is it good to be home? I always have mixed feelings when returning home after a holiday. I miss the adventure already and wish it was not over, but must admit, I do enjoy the comfort of my home and sleeping in my own bed. Now let's get to that load of washing...Les mer
