Big day today. We made sure that we didn’t sleep in too much today as it was Paula’s day to do a few things I have always wanted to do.

First it was the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. We set off walking and the snow flurries started however it wasn’t as cold as yesterday.

We had to divert when we got close to the White House as there must have been something on there today as a lot of streets and the park were closed off and lots of Secret Service personnel.

It took us about half an hour and we were in the museum; all the museums are free.

The first floor was quite boring as it was just stuffed birds and I said to Dave that I was a bit disappointed as I thought it would be a lot more interesting.

Well happy to report when we got to the second and third floors it was a lot more interesting. So much to look at and read. Too much to photograph.

After we finished at this museum, we made our way to the Holocaust Museum. Like the other museum there was so much information to take in and way too much to photograph. Like the World War II memorial, there were 2 sections of the museum that really hit home for me - the shoes and the hair - the photos have the explanation about both. It really made me feel sick in the stomach that the human race can be so cruel and just down right sadistic.

As we left the Holocaust Museum, the wind had picked up and the icy wind just cut right through you, but the snow flurries had gone. We noticed the park was open again so we headed for The White House.

Don’t know what I was expecting but it isn’t anything I thought. It’s right in the middle of highrises and if you didn’t realise what you were looking at you would miss it. Very underwhelming indeed.

    We walked 11kms today.
