The witches of Salem

Salem is famous for the witches trials in 1692, where 200 were accused of practicing witchcraft—the Devil's magic—and 20 were hung. Eventually, the colony admitted the trials were a mistake and compensated the families of those convicted.

Today from Oct to November Salem is turned into a town dedicated to Halloween. All the shops are dressed with skeletons, witches etc.. and the locals take the opportunity to make some money by putting on candlelit ghost walks.Read more
