Baths of Aphrodite

This morning it was very cloudy and we decided it was a good day for a walk so we made our way to just outside Polis were the Baths of Aphrodite can be found along with the start of the Aphrodite Trail.

This is the legendary bathing place of the goddess of love. In the dim and distant past Aphrodite is supposed to have frolicked with Akamas and Adonis and then bathed in the pool which is fed by a spring. Today a huge fig tree shades the romantic spot.

I explained to Hazel that 'Adonis' actual translates from Greek to 'Stuart' but I don't think she was convinced.😉Read more
