Very long walk in madrid

We wandered down Calle atoche towards the train station around the beautiful park el retirio then back up to plaza de sol over to plaza mayor where there was a free concert, part of the santa isidro-patron Saint of Madrid, the Saint of farm workers- then down to the cathedral la almudena and the royal palace of Madrid. Another concert at the Jardin Las vistillas, but way too crowded so we wandered back to the plaza mayor where we could no longer get in as it was full. So back to plaza de sol, picking up some cookie snacks on the way and finally back to our hotel after getting lost. We eventually found Calle lavapies and home by 11 pm. This city comes alive as the night progresses and it gets cooler. The park was very busy with strollers. Had an amazing rose garden. And the plazas busy with locals and tourists.
