arab baths -banos arabes

we went into the arab baths. great condition. they differ slightly from Roman baths I that there was more steam and less soaking in pools. there was a great video on how they were used. they were on the outside of the city walls as you would have to purify yourself first before entering. there was an aqueduct that used the rivers water collected in jugs on a circular belt run by a donkey. there was a constant supply of wood used to feed the fire to heat the floors to create the steam. there were lovely starry sky lights.Read more
